Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano update: lava now flowing through a lava tube, which means it could go farther and faster. No one is “officially” worried but I know people living down there who are on edge.

There are reports officials are investigating possible arson. Astrology isn’t my usual stomping grounds, but I will note that Mars (fire) is in Cancer. Oh – and Mercury’s in retrograde, too.

A Kean Eye points out that yet again, a fierce hurricane is coupled with a big earthquake. It seems he was also right about the “lights in the sky” – note this most recent hurriquake phenomenon, as so aptly coined by Mr. Matthams during the last round, was also in fact accompanied by not just strange lights in the sky over the Jersey shore this weekend and a few days earlier in Oregon, but another meteor shower. Hm. Check out this fireball sightings log over at the “American Meteor Society” and this story from Hurricane Dean and a Mexican community which believes UFOs protect them from hurricanes.

Also did you notice the news about Mexican truckers being allowed on US highways? Interesting that happens just days after the summit and on Labor Day weekend to boot. Score one for the SPP and the coming economic union; as if we didn’t notice.

Update on a little microchipping news; in California, state legislators voted that employers cannot require employees to receive one; however, Alzheimer’s patients seem to have less trouble with it.

Thanks to Kingsley over at Between Both Worlds for the heads-up about the Russian zombie weapons. The Brits also recently deployed their mass-kill thermobaric weapons and work is progressing on the invisibility cloak.

In other news of the apocalypse, the Chinese and Russian armies are working together, the UK is tracking a potentially threatening asteroid, there’s a goat with six horns, a cow with two heads, a big hole in the middle of the universe, and – oh yeah – UFOs are real.

Finally to inject a little bit of lightness into the day, thanks to Pigonastick for this entertaining take on the Myers-Briggs personality tests (I’m an Idealist, which is funny because I did kind of run away and join the Rebellion).

Scientists Create Cloak of Invisibility

Another news item from Wanttoknow.info(for the full ABC news article click here): “Scientists are boldly going where only fiction has gone before to develop a Cloak of Invisibility. It isn’t quite ready to hide a Romulan space ship from Capt. James T. Kirk or to disguise Harry Potter, but it is a significant start and could show the way to more sophisticated designs. In this first successful experiment, researchers from the United States and England were able to cloak a copper cylinder. It’s like a mirage, where heat causes the bending of light rays and cloaks the road ahead behind an image of the sky. “We have built an artificial mirage that can hide something from would-be observers in any direction,” said cloak designer David Schurig, a research associate in Duke University’s electrical and computer engineering department. Cloaking used special materials to deflect radar or light or other waves around an object, like water flowing around a smooth rock in a stream. The new work points the way for an improvd version that could hide people and objects from visible light. Conceptually, the chance of adapting the concept to visible light is good, Schurig said in a telephone interview. But, he added, “From an engineering point of view it is very challenging.” The cloaking of a cylinder from microwaves comes just five months after Schurig and colleagues published their theory that it should be possible. In an ideal situation, the cloak and the item it is hiding would be invisible. An observer would see whatever is beyond them, with no evidence the cloaked item exists.
